Temperature Recommendations:

Surface temperature should be between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit before attempting the installation. Vinyl becomes brittle when it gets too cold and stretchy when it gets too hot.

Preparation & Cleaning Procedures:

To ensure good adhesion to any vehicle surface, it is important that you follow these procedures to prepare the surface prior to any vinyl product installation. Use a clean, lint free towel or cloth between each of the cleaning steps to prevent cross-contamination. If the graphic will run into the door or other jambs- clean that area also.

    * Remove heavy road grime or tar.

    * Wash and rinse the contaminated area with liquid dish detergent and warm water. Dry the surface with a clean, lint free towel or cloth.

    * After the detergent wash simply finish the process by wiping down the entire area with isopropyl alcohol. Again use a clean, lint-free towel or cloth.

Installation Guidelines

General Info

- The VINYL DECAL adhesive side is stuck to a layer of waxy backing paper. The side that you will see, is covered (in most cases) with a low tack premask tape.  (ILLUSTRATION)

    * Because vinyl is a pressure-sensitive product, a squeegee should be used for all installations. This squeegee can be obtained from us. After the application the tape or premask is removed, squeegee a second time, focusing mainly on the edges and tips. You may want to use a protective sleeve, such as a soft folded paper towel, on the squeegee to avoid damge to the paint and/or vinyl surface.

    * After the decal is applied- when removing the application tape/premask, always pull it slowly, back onto itself, at a 180-degree angle. (SEE ILLUSTRATION) Bubbles should be punctured using a sharp air release tool. Do not slit the vinyl to release the air. If the vinyl is slit it will spread or gap.

Alignment

A crooked decal makes you and us look bad! Always temporarily tape up your decal first and step back to see if it looks correct. It can then be taped on one edge or the tape can be torn leaving one half on the vehicle and half on the decal for registration purposes. (illustration?)

 DRY METHOD

1. Peel off backing layer to expose adhesive.

2. Starting at any one side (top, bottom, left, right), place edge of decal where you want it.

3. Slowly roll the rest of decal down on surface, press down gently making good contact with surface.

4. Squeegee firmly.

5. Gently peel off premask tape from decal.

 WET METHOD

1. If it is a large decal, before applying, flatten it out in a warm room.

2. Mix a weak solution of soapy water in a spray bottle (3 or 4 drops of dish washing liquid/quart).

3. Spray surface LIGHTLY with soapy water. Peel off backing paper to expose the sticky side of the vinyl. LIGHTLY spray the sticky side of the vinyl with soapy water.

4. Starting at any one side (top, bottom, left, right), place edge of decal where you want it

5. Slowly lay rest of decal down on installation surface. If needed, gently move decal to exact position where you want it.

6. Using  a squeegee, gently smooth out any air or water bubbles on decal, working from the center to outside edges. This will avoid trapping air or water bubbles.

7. Finish by peeling the clear protective tape very slowly back on itself. Do not pull straight away from the surface. Pop any bubbles with a pin and press out the air or water. Any water bubbles will evaporate.

Exterior Graphic Care

The best quality pressure-sensitive vinyl materials have been used to create your new graphics. These graphics require little maintenance and should be treated similarly to a painted surface. Do wash your graphics with plain soap and water or any commercially made car wash soap. Rinse thoroughly. Do keep high pressure nozzles at least 18 inches from the edge of the graphics. High pressure spray may cause the edge of the graphic to peel. Do test any cleaning solution on a small section of the decal before using. Don't use any aromatic solvents such as acetone, M.E.K., toluene, paint thinner, or lacquer thinner on your graphics. Any solvent may soften the vinyl material or smear colors. Don't let gasoline or other fuels drip or stay on graphics for any length of time. If a spill occurs, wipe off and rinse with water immediately. Vinyl graphics will have a shorter life expectancy when exposed to severe heat and sunlight. Protection of graphics from prolonged direct sunlight will insure an extended life.
